Black Friar Pub Salford

A Gem Amongst Giants

The BlackFriars pub has risen from the ashes and been lovingly restored bigger and better than its previous incarnation. With capacity for over 220 revellers, we’re on a pilgrimage to bring together friends, loved ones and strangers alike, to break bread and share a drink. Rebuilt in 1886, we’ve resurrected the pub following a 15-year hiatus, when it lay derelict due to fire damage. We’ve taken great care and attention in the renovation, remaining sensitive to the building’s original features, while adding a slick modern finish throughout. The end-product? A true harmony of old and new. We like to think it’s somewhere everyone feels at home.

The unique pub has something for all tastes and fancies, with a traditional pub area, offering an extensive range of drinks, alongside a classic menu of honest bar food. Under the same roof, sits a modern glass restaurant, surrounded by greenery, serving a menu of fine food using locally sourced seasonal ingredients.

If the sun is shining (miracles do happen), we have a courtyard and outdoor beer garden to top up your tan or soak up the atmosphere. Bringing together friends and family is a special time, and we’ve got function spaces on our second floor that can be exclusively booked for private events. Come and have a snoop.

Don’t believe the hype? Pop in. The Blackfriars is much more than meets the eye, so if you’re passing by, or planning something special, be sure to swing by. As the wise words carved above our door say, you may go further, and fare worse.
