The Winter Tavern

This coming season, the Black Friar Garden will become the home of the Winter Tavern once more...

wynter (noun) | Winter, Middle English

This coming season, The Winter Tavern returns. Stave away the chill of Manchester nights with fires, frolics and feasting. Merriment starts here.

LONG NIGHTS | TWINKLING LIGHTS | ROARING FIRES | WARM FURS | HIGHLAND WHISKY | FESTIVE FEASTING

The wonder of the medieval Winter Tavern awaits. Glittering candles, roaring fires, rugs and furs will adorn the majestic space – ready for a season filled with warmth, nostalgia, festivities and feasting. A fantasy story come to life (with a little more boozing and a little less duelling). Our Friar would be proud, indeed.

TAVERN FEASTING

The Winter Tavern is the perfect setting to celebrate Christmas and more. From á la carte and festive dining to beautiful cocktails, give your loved ones a merry olde english knees up in unforgettable style. See the Menus here.

PRIVATE HIRE

From work parties to weddings, our Winter Tavern is available for full private hire all through the winter months. We can accommodate up to 50 seated on our festive sit down menu, or opt for canapés for a more casual affair (standing capacity 70 people).

The Winter Tavern comes complete with a full private bar, bathrooms and space for a DJ – we can help plan your event and even provide entertainment. Your imagination is the limit, but one thing is for sure – this little slice of magic is sure to impress your guests whatever the occasion.

So, grab your mufflements (warm clothes), pray it’s not frigorific (really cold) and welcome in wynter at the Black Friar.
