A new á la carte menu brings Summer to the Black Friar.

Our new á la carte menu is here. Inspired by the nostalgia of the Great British Summer, our dishes bring to mind the whimsy of sun-soaked days, lazy afternoons and balmy evenings. And, we must say, they all pair rather well with a good drink…

 

In the Beginning

Creedy Carver Cured Duck, driftwood goats cheese mousse, truffle + honey popcorn. Start with a show stopper. Cured in earthy truffle, this dish perfectly balances the sweet, salty + creamy in divine fashion. Bon appétit.

 

Heritage tomato gaspacho, green tomato salsa + OMED picual olive oil (ve). Fast becoming a new vegan favourite. Warmer weather is simply made for gaspacho – cool, refreshing + flavoursome.

 

The Main Event

Baked summer vegetable ratatouille pie, smoked aubergine, burrata + caper dressing (v). Smokey aubergine works with the creamy burrata and zesty caper dressing for an explosion of taste – welcome our famous pies into Summer.

 

Truffle stuffed corn fed chicken, confit leg presse, baby vegetables + truffle jus. Black Friar team fave. Juicy Yorkshire chicken. Buttery, succulent, delicious. Order this.

 

And it Was So

Pear tart tatin, tonka bean + calvados ice cream (ve). Ice cream infused with calvados liqueur brings to mind fresh apples, baking spices + floral notes – the perfect accompaniment to this home baked tart.

 

Eton Mess mille feuille, strawberry meringue, Chantilly, candied strawberries, cucumber + mint sorbet. A classic dessert with a Black Friar twist – the homemade cucumber and mint sorbet rounds this off wonderfully. Pair with one of our exclusive Didsbury Gin cocktail concoctions for the ultimate indulgence.

 

All this and more… available in the pub, restaurant + garden now, Tuesday-Saturday from midday.
